Any Ideas?

So there is a weird type of tree we see around Oliver and we just have no idea what it is. These "balls" scatter the ground beneath this tree at the school.

At first last year, I thought they were dried up fruit of some sort but, no, that's not it.

The bark is also interesting on this tree.

So, does anyone out there have any idea what this may be called? Anyone seen this type of tree before?

  1. It's a sycamore.
    Google it, you'll see.
I saw some in Arizona. I didn't know what they were either.

  2. A-ha! A sycamore! I had heard of 'em, but guess I hadn't seen any. Very interesting.

  3. Chestnuts was my first guess. The sycamores I saw in Arizona just had balls of yellow flowers on them.

  4. After googling both, I came accross a chestnut tree on my run and its bark was nothing like the sycamores. The sycamore fruit turns this way in the fall from what I read. I will take more pictures throughout the season to see it's changes.
